How Does It Work?

The economic benefits of Solar Panels and the Feed in Tariff (FIT)

How solar panels are used to convert solar energy into electricity is a fascinating topic: to find out more first hand, please contact us. Remember, one part of our team is A Walters Electrical Ltd, who know all there is to know about the generation of electricity! However, if you want a quick explanation of the basics, please read our handy guide below;

Solar energy

Solar energy can be harnessed in a number of ways, but one of the ‘fastest growing energy technologies in percentage terms’ in recent years according to the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change, is making use of photovoltaic solar panels. In its most basic formulation solar panels make use of the sun’s energy by using photovoltaic cells to convert light directly into electricity. As the cells can only convert light, they will not work at night, but fortunately a solar panel installation will work during the day time even when it is cloudy!

The electricity

The electricity which is generated from the solar panel installation is then fed into your normal household circuits and will, during the day, power your everyday appliances such as your television and washing machine. Any electricity which is not used from the solar panel installation will not be put to waste, but will instead be measured using a meter and exported to the grid; a process for which you will receive financial reward.  A solar panel installation therefore offers an intuitive and reliable power source for your home.

The technology

The Technologoy within the solar panels, whilst seemingly complex, represents a hassle-free approach to energy production. With no moving parts, solar panels are essentially maintenance free. Once they have been installed, they require little further attention, meaning you can relax and enjoy your new source of energy, with a minimum output of 80% guaranteed for 20 years! Solar Days is also a member of RECC, the Renewable Energy Consumer Code, which works with reputable firms supplying and installing renewable energy products and which provides an additional 10 year guarantee to consumers on the installation and maintenance of the system, which can be used in the very unlikely event that Solar Days experiences any financial difficulties.  Solar Days is an accredited member of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)

Making use of solar power through solar panels and a Solar Days solar panel installation is a hassle-free and reliable approach to energy production from a reputable solar array installer.
